Its not about us

We are all called to do the work of the Lord. God has blessed us all with individual gifts, talents, and abilities to be used to magnify and glorify His name and His kingdom, as well as to help and serve others. This means that our calling is much bigger than ourselves, because it effects so many other people. When we live righteously and walk according to the Word of God and are constantly striving to please Christ then the people around us get blessed as a result. The people in our life, the people we minister to should be the benefactors of our walk with Christ. This is why it is so important to make sure that our walk with Christ is in order, but also to make sure that we are doing our work for the Lord with excellence and at the highest level possible. Understand that Kingdom work never stops. Regardless of how tired you are, or how much work you put in the day before, there is no slacking when it comes to doing the work of the Lord for the Kingdom. And because the work of the Kingdom never stops that means that we can all be replaced very quickly if we are not doing what God has called us to do with excellence. Like I said our calling and the work we do not only affects us but everyone around us. If one person is slipping up and not being excellent in their work then the people they are ministering too are effected by that and they suffer and get the short end of the stick. We can all be replaced at any moment. There is a job that needs to get done, and it must get done, it does not matter who does it. So on those days when you are tired and just do not feel like getting up and doing anything (like I felt this morning) remember the people that are counting on YOU to do YOUR job. Think about all the people that get effected either negatively or positively by you doing your job well or by you doing your job poorly. You not doing your job not only effects your own growth and progression in what God has called you to do, but it also has the potential to delay the growth and progression of the people you were called to minister to. The work we do for the Lord not only affects us, the people we are called to minister to but it also directly has an effect on the amount of praise, worship, and thanks God receives. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 9:12-13, “12 this service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.” What this is saying is that our service leads to people thanking God, it says people will praise God for our obedience. So if we are disobedient and not doing what we are supposed to be doing, and not doing what God has called us to do with EXCELLENCE then it has the potential to decrease the amount of thanks, praise, and glory given to God. We were created to glorify God that should be our goal, to bring glory to God not to rob Him of His glory. And when we don’t do our job that is exactly what we do. We each have one body that is made up of a variety of different parts. All of our body parts have their own unique and individual functions that make the body as a whole run smoothly, efficiently, and effectively. If one of our body parts stops doing what it is supposed to be doing, and stops function the way it is supposed to the whole body suffers. It is the same way with the body of Christ. We each have a unique calling and function that helps keep the Kingdom running smoothly. If someone starts slacking and not doing their job, the whole body (Kingdom) gets effected. Don’t YOU be the person that causes any dysfunction in the body of Christ. Do your job. Always keep in mind who your job effects. Our calling and the work we are called to do for the Lord is not about us, it is about glorifying God and helping His people. Understand it is so much bigger than just you. People are counting on you to do your job DO NOT LET THEM DOWN. Don’t be selfish, and self-centered, put others before yourself, be selfless, and do what God has called you to do with excellence and to the very best of your ability.

Let me Put The Word on it:

  • Colossians 3:23 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,
  • 1 Peter 4:10-11 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others,as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
  • 1 Timothy 4:14 14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecywhen the body of elders laid their hands on you.
  • Romans 12:6-8 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith;if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
  • 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
  • Romans 6:4-5 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
  • Psalm 75: 6-7 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
